What Does CBD Stand For?

What Does CBD Stand For?

It’s National Cannabis Awareness month and we want to celebrate our favorite part of the Hemp plant – CBD. CBD is quickly building a name for itself in the natural health market, but many don’t know what the hype is about. You may even find yourself questioning what does CBD stand for? CBD, an abbreviation for Cannabidiol, is a natural chemical compound known as a cannabinoid found in the Hemp plant highly regarded for its healing properties. This miracle compound carries the potential to assist with several prevalent health issues and benefits countless individuals every day.

Where Does CBD Come From?

If you’re asking, “what does CBD stand for,” then you’re probably also wondering where it comes from.

CBD primarily exists within the Hemp plant, but it can also be found in smaller amounts inside the Marijuana plant. However, Hemp-derived CBD is federally legal in the United States whereas Marijuana-derived CBD is not. Many companies – like Hemp Bombs – extract the compound from Industrial Hemp plants for legal purposes. At Hemp Bombs, we use American-grown Industrial Hemp that is cultivated using environmentally friend methods, free of pesticides and harsh chemicals. Through our extraction method, we separate CBD from the other cannabinoids present in Hemp plants – like THC – garnering highly potent and premium CBD.

How Can CBD Benefit Me?

Even more important than asking “what does CBD stands for,” is the question “what does CBD do?”

CBD promotes a variety of health and wellness benefits. By interacting with your Endocannabinoid System, CBD can potentially provide anxiety relief, an improved sense of calm and relaxation, enhanced well-being and more.

What Is The Endocannabinoid System?

Without the Endocannabinoid System, also known as the ECS, CBD would not be able to benefit you. This network of cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) and molecules is located throughout your brain and central and peripheral nervous systems – even extending to the skin. The ECS maintains homeostasis and regulates pain, state of mind, memory and sleep with the help of endocannabinoids like anandamide and 2AG. Your body responds to both these endocannabinoids and to plant-derived cannabinoids like CBD and THC.

How Does CBD Work With The ECS?

Unlike endocannabinoids, CBD does not bind directly to the ECS’s receptors. Instead, CBD acts as a reuptake inhibitor and an allosteric modulator.

  • A reuptake inhibitor is a compound that stops the breakdown or re-entry of endocannabinoids into the cells. As a reuptake inhibitor, CBD can maintain high concentrations of molecules that are related to a number of important health processes. For example, CBD stops the anandamide from entering the cells. Typically, anandamide is quickly broken down by FAAH (fatty acid amide hydrolase) within the cells, but because of CBD there is more anandamide in the synapses which may help increase calm and relaxation.
  • An allosteric modulator is something that changes the shape of a receptor in order to make that receptor send a different signal to the nerves. For instance, CBD reduces anxiety by changing the shape of the GABA-A receptor which enhances the natural calming effect of GABA.

The first part of learning about this therapeutic compound may be understanding the answer to the question “what does CBD stand for,” but there’s much more to discover about this cannabinoid. This product is amazing. I have severe pain from arthritis. My pain management doctor and pharmacist recommended CBD products. Tried gummies with no results. Didn’t want to use typical because they’ve always burned. Pharmacist said she uses this and told me to try, guaranteeing no burn. So I did and now I want it in bulk. There’s no sensation at all until a few minutes after applying it. Then kinda feels cold (like when cold air blows on you when wet). Pain disappears completely. N eeds extremely small amount. No residue when applied correctly, disappears when rubbed in completely. Only smells in jar not on skin.
    Seriously Try it‼
